Fujian is endowed with abundant forest and mountain resources, 80% of its area consisting of mountains and rolling hills interspersed with river valleys and basins. The largest mountain range in Fujian is the Wuyi Mountains, running northeast to southwest over a distance of 550 km. Its main peak, Mount Huanggang, rises 2,158 meters above the sea level, the highest peak not only in Fujian but also in East China. The Daiyun Mountain Range, in Central Fujian, is the second largest of its kind in Fujian. It also runs northeast to southwest. Its main peak, Mount Daiyun, rises 1,856 meters above the sea level.
