Fujian enjoys the wide sea and has deep ports. 136,000 sq. km. of sea area comes under Fujian’s jurisdiction, and its long winding coastline is dotted with 125 harbors, like sparkling sapphires. As the crow flies, Fujian’s coastline is only 535 km long, but, having the most jagged coastline in China, its actual length is 3,752 km. From north to south, in every bay and inlet, waves wash the shore and gulls wheel in the sky; every harbor is filled with boats and ships bound for distant lands. Fujian also has numerous islands; there are 1,404 offshore islands, with a total area of about 1,200 sq.km. Pingtan Island is the largest in Fujian and the fifth largest in China. ![]() Maluan Bay, Dongshan |
