Minnan (South Fujian) Culture

Minnan Culture refers to the regional culture created and developed by people living in the southern part of Fujian, mostly in Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou. It is an important component of the Chinese culture.

Minnan Culture is a window to China’s traditional farming culture and maritime commerce culture. Over the course of its development, it has also been enriched by the distinct traits and desirable elements of some foreign cultures such as the Arabic culture, the South Asian culture and western cultures. It has now developed into a profound culture with distinct local features and unique characters.
